I am a perfectly average 59 year old woman.

It is in my everyday averageness that I think other women will find a connection.I do not have a PHD, a famous family, massive amounts of money or talent. I will never be in MORE Magazine with the caption: “This is what 59 looks like” (I can only hope that those over achieving successful women have been airbrushed to death). BUT, average does not mean ordinary, ladies! We all bring unique into this world.

I grew up in the South with strict parents who emphasized following the rules and responsibility. No emotional outburst allowed. I proceed to marry into an Italian family from New York full of high emotions, and lots of energy. Emotional outburst are the norm. Just like oil and vinegar, when you shake that together, something delicious and different  happens.

I am happily married (37 years) to a great man. Paul and I are, to quote a waiter in the South of France, very simpatico.

Paul and I have our own business and that allows me to work from home and gives me lots of flexibility. A laptop and WiFi connection are the key to my happiness. I volunteer at my church and the staff is wise enough to put me to work in the back office, away from guests and church members!

We have one daughter, Christina. She was and is the game changer of our lives. She currently lives in New York City, working in non-profit. Paul and I delight in everything about her.

I binge watch Netflix. I read. I enjoy an adult beverage. I am snarky. If I won the Powerball, we would be on a plane tomorrow with nothing but a passport and platinum card. I love all things zombies and manicures and pedicures. My Sunday reading of the New York Times is sacrosanct. I am a questioning Christian, which is the state of every thinking Christian.

I am a Gemini, and while I don’t  believe in Astrology (unless the horoscope promises amazing things), I came across a recent character description that was spot on:

“….tend to get bored easily, light hearted and spirited, but marked by inconsistency. Creative, witty and adaptable, but also superficial and restless with a Ms. Know-All attitude.” Reading this, my husband,  daughter and anyone who knows me  just spit out their drinks.

But enough about me.
